How to get to Everest

Since Mount Everest is located on the border of Nepal and China. So you can get to there from both sides. Where to stay

On the place where is about 5,200 meters above the sea level, you are not allowed to expect a luxury accommodation. Large tent hotel is your only choice. Good news is now electric is able to use now. Usually a tent can house about 6 people. And there is no shower here. Though suffering, but you will not regret when you see the breathtaking sunset and sunrise on the peak of the world. What to pack

The places near to the Rongbuk Monastery and Everest Base Camp are very cold especially in the night. So bring warm thick clothes. Also pack gloves and hat to prevent from the possible snowing. Glasses and sun cream are needed due to the strong ultraviolet ray. There is no restaurant and shop market on the Everest, so you can pack some high-energy food and fruits. You can also prepare a small portable oxygen bottle because you may feet hard to breath in the night. But usually your travel agency will bring oxygen for you.

How to have fun

Sunset and sunrise are the best features. Sunset generally starts at 7 pm ~ 8 pm. Sunrise starts at 6 am ~ 7 am. Don’t miss the chance. Trekking from Rongbuk Monastery to EBC is a spectacular experience. But it is a little bit tough. You can also take a bus to EBC(7km/20min).

Lhalu Wetland

Everybody think Lhasa is a barren city because it is located at 3650 meters above the sea level. While this is not totally true. Actually Lhasa is not only a “Sunshine city” but also a “Green city”. With a total area of more than 6 square kilometers at 3,645 meters above the sea level, the Lhalu Nature Reserves is a typical plateau wetland. Hundreds years ago, I was manor of a very famous Tibetan noble family – Lhalu. The web climate and float grass are rare on the plateau. Groups of wild birds such as ruddy shelducks, yellow ducks, Tibetan syrrhapters, bareheaded geese, brown-headed gulls and laverocks can be seen here every year. The national first class protections animal, black-necked cranes also enjoy their life here.

Tips: It only periodically opens in hot season in order to protect the environment. Tourists can take overlook on Beijing West Road, Dangre West Road and Luding North Road

A gradual process of acclimating the high altitude

High altitude reaction is always a crucial issue when traveling in Tibet. While taking train to Tibet itself is a great process of acclimating the high altitude. The effective section is the route between Xining and Lhasa. Train departs from Xining(altitude:2261m), and starts to climb to higher altitude. It reaches the peak station – Tanggula station(altitude: 5070m), then goes lower before arrival at Lhasa(altitude:3650).

Train ticket is cheaper than flight ticket. Generally the price is fixed. There are three kinds of seats: hard seats, hard sleeper and soft sleeper. But in peak season, it is difficult to ensure to get the ticket.

Medog – the last mysterious virgin land in Tibet

Medog County, also Motuo County in mandarin, used to be known as the last county which didn’t have road access in China. Last year, a highway is completed and opened for traffic. And now Medog has become one of most “want- to- visit-most” places in Tibet.

Sightseeing Platforms Are Open for Usage in Namtso Lake National Park

Namtso Lake starts to unfreeze as the weather gets warm in May. “From late October of last year, Namtso lake started to freeze because of often heavy snow. And the whole lake water was frozen in January of this year until May days come when the lake gets alive again”, said by an officer in Namtso Lake Park.
